Magical

I would like to start this post with a huge thank you to Scrapdolly who posted directions to a bluebell wood she went to the other day. (sometimes I *love* the internet). I told dad about it and we went this morning and oh boy - it was magical! You walked along and you're wondering when the bluebells were going to start, walked through a style and poof - I'm not sure what hits you first, the beauty or the scent but it was just wonderful!
After the disappointment of the other day I was just wondering around in awe - they went on forever...sigh...I could have just sat in there all day...
(I'm looking up here as I was a bit worried about something creepy crawly falling on me!)
unfortunately my legs started killing me once we got there and we still had to walk back - bah! I'm going to be out of action for the next week but oh it was worth it!
And here's a picture of one of the many brilliant yellow fields we drove past on our half hour de-tour from the directions. (note to self, even though dad says he knows the way turns he actually doesn't always...huh...).

Hunting for bluebells

We went on a little Good Friday trip to a local woods yesterday. I've been wanting to see a carpet of bluebells for many years but we never seem to get round to it. Sadly the woods we picked didn't have much of a carpet, in fact the bluebells that were there just made me feel a bit sad -
Maybe they were a bit old? Dad scouted on ahead to see if there were any hiding but no luck. Probably a good thing, I don't think my legs appriciated the 50 yards I managed to walk. (luckily there's a parking bit 'in' the woods so you don't have to go very far to be immersed in nature.)
As it was maybe I was better off just staying at home and digging out the macro lens
It may not have been a carpet of them but still very pretty.

Don't craft when your brain needs sleep...

So the above is a layout I made on thursday. Somehow, and I'm still not sure how, it's absolutely nothing how I pictured it. I used the papers I had in mind but it somehow ended up more...minimalist than I wanted. In fact the only thing I liked was the flower I made following my Magpie friend Karen's instructions.
I felt like crying but decided it was daft to cry over paper, so instead I gave up and went to bed.
The next day I went back to it and it wasn't as bad as I remembered - I think the main problem was it wasn't how I planned it to be.
So I had a look around my desk and wondered how I could change/pretty it up a bit without ripping the whole thing up and starting over.
That was when I noticed my little embossed bee. He was a test to see if my versamark pad/powders/heat gun were still working after a few years sitting in retirement. I added that, cut up some of the scraps I had left over from making the paper strip flower, added some outlines and ta-daa

hexagon/bee hive-y theme layout. And I love it. Yay.
Ok, it probably would have gone a bit neater if the 6 rectangles weren't already stuck down but there you go.
(oh, and since I took the photo I added a bit more journalling to the top of the journal card. And the blue 'diddle' thickers were replaced with a font cut with my MM Slice 'Sock Hop' fonts card.)
I guess I should take this time to explain that one of the first words my little cousin said was diddle. And it was for everything - point at the door 'diddle?'. Toddle along, with every step 'did-dle, did-dle, did-dle'. It was sooo cute - as if she needs more cuteness right?!
This was my entry for UKS weekly challenge - use pink & blue, use a flower & photos from a special event/celebration (they were taken during my aunt's 60th birthday last May and Eshe was 'celebrating' playing peek-a-boo with my mum's cardigan).
Okay that's probably enough rambling for one post - sorry if most of this didn't make sense, my head's hurting so I can't really see out of my left eye. Super!

Chillaxin'

Do the young people still use that term or am I officially 'roll-eyes' worthy? Ah well...

This week has been lovely and warm, only problem is my body doesn't appear to like sudden temp changes. I've been like a walking zombie all week, great times!

Have come up with a couple of ideas for my 'list' (see previous post). I'm getting a bit stuck though - I've filled it about half-way and reached a bit of a lull. Hmm. I think I might have a blog hop to search for inspiration...

Hope everyone's enjoying this weather and is staying sun safe! (don't you just hate seeing people walking around looking red as a tomato? In this day and age?! I know accidents happen but...sigh...)
One good thing about all this sun, I can break out my smoothie maker. Mm, frozen fruit smoothies...

Midnight musings

I've been feeling a bit...off...for the past few weeks. I think I want to blame David Cameron and that bloody census. The bit where it asks you about your qualifications and jobs? 2 big fat non of the aboves and I was all done. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever stop being sad everytime I'm reminded of my early exit from school...
Yeah, anyway, back to my midnight musings.
My sleep pattern's been off for months now, and you know how your mind can wander at 2am? I've been trying to think of ways to make this year better. I think I'm finally coming to peace with the fact that I can't pause the aging process until I start getting better (trust me, I've wished it enough) and now I need to start doing some of the things I've always imagined doing with my life. Of course there are a few things that won't be accomplised any time soon. Travel mostly. Unless my mum wakes up tomorrow free of her fear of flying, or dad discovers a new love for driving long distance I doubt I'll be going anywhere new until I can manage to get there under my own steam. (I imagine myself being a very well travelled 60 year old). So what can I do to feel more fulfilled by 30 (in 3 years...3?!...)? I think, to start, I'm going to give one of those 'x things by x' birthday year lists a go. Small things I've always wanted to do but just never really got around to doing. Like reading a 'classic' book. Even my dad's suprised I haven't read any Bronte or Austen. Creating a piece of art for my room (once it's re-done) would be fun too. I'll have to give it a think - I've got until mid-summer to come up with one.
Maybe I'll start a little early for this first one? Depending on what I put on it with the way I've been feeling lately I may need a extra couple of months!

Oh for goodness sake

Is there a different way to upload pics to blogger? The one above should have been 2nd...Oh well...Above is George, my Aunt and Uncles yummy pussy cat. Yummier than Pip? Well...shh...but you can snuggle George's belly and he never ever stabs you with his claws...isn't he lovely? Don't tell Pip if you see him!
I had *such* a busy day yesterday. Especially seeing as I don't really go out. At all. When was the last time?...13th March.
We went to Haskins to get some roses for the garden - my Mum's day present and late anniversary present. To Castlepoint to get some hayfever eye drops and food. Then to Aunt and Uncles followed by a trip to fish shop for some friends for Curly and Fred. I took a pic of the magical fish shop. I uploaded it. I backspaced a word and it deleted the photo instead. It really wasn't a great enough photo to try and upload again. Sigh.
It was funny, while we were at Haskins there were dad's trying to help their little girls pick plants out 'I think mummy will really like this one', and then at Boots the perfume stands were filled with Dads and daughters 'do you think mummy would like this smell?' - what I want to know is, what do dad's and sons buy on mothers day? I didn't see any of them...I didn't go to a choc shop, maybe that?
While we were in Boots I fell in love with the new Marc Jacobs perfume 'Eau So Fresh'. Even more so, I fell in love with display so I went all secret squirrel and snapped a photo (I never know if it's allowed to do that in a shop)
Isn't it adorable? Fake grass and a tiny pink bench and archway - kind of wanted to buy it just to recreate that at home...perfectly normal right? I'm pretty certain I like the scent though - I think I'll have to give it another shot next time I'm in to make sure. Mm, I love new perfume and this one was all fresh and spring/summery. I'm still in love with my Rock 'n' Rose but I tend to find it's not that safe to put on in the daytime as Bees (and more worryingly, wasps!) tend to hover round me with it on. Apparently it's a more believeable flower scent than I gave it credit for. Maybe I should get a shirt made up - 'I am not a flower'. Bee's can read, right?
